Mt. Vernon Business Students Win Scholarships at SIU-C Accounting Challenge
On Friday, February 6, 2009, twenty-two of Ms. Hayes’ Accounting students competed for scholarships at the 11th Annual Accounting Challenge sponsored by the School of Accountancy at Southern Illinois University Carbondale. The Accounting Challenge is designed to identify and reward top students and programs in Southern Illinois. The Challenge consisted of individual accounting exams for Accounting I and Advanced Accounting and a team activity in which problem-solving and communication skills were tested. Seventeen Southern Illinois schools were represented with 225 students competing.
Congratulations to Blake Flota and Blake Jennings for placing 2nd and 3rd respectively in the Advanced Accounting Individual Exam Competition! These outstanding young men were awarded $250.00 scholarships from SIU-C.
It was a fun-filled day and all of Ms. Hayes’ students represented Mt. Vernon High School proudly with great attitudes and competitive spirits. All students received a SIU-C T-shirt and won many door prizes. The following students competed in the Challenge. Advanced
