First Responder Graduates

HOSA Pinning Ceremony

May 28, 2010

The Mt. Vernon Township High School (MVTHS) Area Vocational Center (AVC) held its 3rd annual pinning and awards ceremony on Monday, May 10 at the Schweinfurth Auditorium.  Guests were welcomed by Tammy Martin, Health Occupation Students of America (HOSA) co-sponsor and instructor.  She presented a slide show of pictures from throughout the year.  

Darlene Franscavitch, RN, was this year’s keynote speaker.  HOSA was honored to present the first scholarship in Mrs. Franscavitch’s name.  

Also addressing those present were Laura Warren-Ing, HOSA co-sponsor and instructor; Samantha Smith, First Responder student; and Phillip O’Dell, Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) student.  

Certificates, pins, and patches were presented to those completing the First Responder program and the CNA program.  Mr. Robert Hyman, North Egypt EMS coordinator was on hand to assist in the pinning of the First Responder students.   CNA students recited the Nightingale Pledge and participated in a candle lighting ceremony.

In addition, seniors completing the CNA program during their junior year were recognized.  They are as follows:

  • Amber Bocock
  • Courtney Dixon
  • Tadrianna Gladney
  • Katie Hicks.

  • Kristin Tompkins, CNA Valedictorian
  • Taylor Belmont, CNA Salutatorian -- Webber High School
  • Jamie Meadows, Kristen Tompkins, and Phillip O’Dell, Webber High School, Peer awarded CNA Student of the Year
  • Morgan Bozarth, HOSA Student of the Year 2nd place winners, Jessica Morgan and Leah Sherman.
  • Jessica Morgan, Darlene Franscavitch HOSA Scholarship recipient

50, 100, 150, and 200 hours of service to HOSA.
HOSA State competition teams.
