Have a WYSE School Year

May 21, 2009

by Alexander Taaka

WYSE (Worldwide Youth in Science and Engineering) is an organization for students skilled in many academic areas to compete against students from other schools. Despite the name of the organization, there are a wide variety of tests, not all science. There are seven categories:

  • English
  • Mathematics
  • Biology
  • Chemistry
  • Physics
  • Computer Fundamentals
  • Engineering Graphics

If you are interested in or particularly knowledgeable about any of these subjects, consider trying out for the WYSE team next school year.

In a WYSE competition, each participant takes a test on up to two of the above-mentioned categories. The tests vary in length, but always consist of only multiple-choice questions. The tests are extremely difficult, but any correct answers at all will help the whole team, regardless of the number of incorrect answers.

If you're interested in one of those categories, or just want to miss a day of school every once in a while, speak to Ms. Shackles about joining the WYSE team next year!
