Story image 1

Mrs. Tammy Beckham, Assistant Principal

-----

Welcome to this part of our webpage! Many people do not know what NCA is so let me take a moment to explain it. Recently NCA, SACS and NSSE joined forces and is now known as AdvancED. AdvancED is the world’s largest education community, representing over 23,000 public and private schools and districts in 30 states and 65 countries and serving over 15 million students. It provides accreditation, research, and continuous improvement in a customized way to every school and district it serves. Mt. Vernon Township High School has been a member since 1905.

Accreditation is a voluntary method of quality assurance and its goal is to evaluate, verify, and improve an institution’s quality. To be accredited, schools must meet high standards, engage in continuous improvement, and demonstrate quality assurance through external review. The standards for quality schools for the 2007-2008 school year are vision and purpose, governance and leadership, teaching and learning, documenting and using results, resources and support systems, stakeholder communications and relationships, and commitment to continuous improvement.
