Welcome to a new school year. I am excited to be able to address you, now, as your Assistant Principal in charge of Attendance and Discipline. The past two years have seen dramatic improvements in behavior and expectations of our students. To that point, I believe that the policies that we have had in place will continue to serve us well this year. However, as with most shifts in administration I would like to highlight a few tweaks to past protocol.
Please be aware of and follow the dress code. You can find a written statement of the code in your student handbook, but you may also be advised to view the "poster" that should be available in all classrooms. In the event that an outfit or logo would cause you to ask our staff "Is this OK?" please exercise your better judgement and omit that item from your school wardrobe.
Be on the lookout for our PBIS initiatives this year. By utilizing your pride points you can have access to free bread sticks, drawings, and many cool items donated by your community. In the end we want to reward our students for being the great kids we know they can be.
Finally, I want to reflect our Superintendents opening speech to Freshman parents, and reiterate that we have a zero-tolerance policy when it comes to bullying. This will not matter if it occurs online, in the classroom, or at the mall. During the course of your high school career you represent MV, and you will be held accountable for your words and actions (both good and bad). Remember that true character is what you do when you think no one is looking.
