Parents

Welcome to MVTHS.ORG

September 21, 2007

Dear Parent,

Welcome to the Mount Vernon Township High School Web site. We appreciate your interest and concern for your child's education. Our goal at Mt. Vernon Township High School is to enhance the lives of all our students. Without parental support and commitment, we believe that a student cannot fully reach their full potential. Working together, we can help your child achieve more.

Attendance
To truly benefit from the overall school experience, it is essential that each student maintain regular and punctual daily attendance in all assigned classes. Class attendance is necessary for academic achievement, as well as for developing the habits of punctuality, dependability and self-discipline. Attendance patterns in high school often carry over into a student's later career endeavors. Therefore, employers are often interested in the high school attendance of prospective employees.

Parent and Community Involvement
At a time when many people feel overwhelmed by the problems and challenges facing today's youth, Mt. Vernon Township High School would like to welcome you as a partner in working toward building a positive vision for the young people of our community. Instead of focusing only on reducing risks and intervening in problems, we would like to unite our community in an effort to nurture the positive development of youth. By building successful partnerships with parents at school and in the community, we can help all our children succeed.

It's our goal to motivate and involve individuals, organizations, and community leaders in nurturing competent, caring, and responsible youth. Good partnerships result in getting everyone on the same page so that our children receive the same messages at home, in school and in the community.
