Anticipated School Nurse
Duties
The nurse's primary responsibilities include distributing medications, checking vitals, assessing illness, checking blood sugar, and conducting medical reviews and making educational recommendations for special education students. In addition, the nurse will provide all levels of medical care to students, including those with severe and profound disabilities including feeding tubes. Provide specific IEP identified assistance to students. Provide appropriate training to staff. Complete IEP paperwork as appropriate to position as School Nurse. Travel to assist students in other buildings within the District is required.
Qualifications
The qualified individual is an RN (with a BA in nursing or education or a related field) who holds an Illinois Professional Educator License in school nursing. Alternatively, it may be an RN that has met one of two other options for authorization to complete medical reviews: an RN who has completed a special education web course offered by ISBE, or an RN that has passed the School Nurse Content Exam offered by the Illinois Licensure Testing System. -Vision and Hearing Screening certification -Current in first aide, CPR, and AED use

Paraprofessional
Duties
Special Education Paraprofessionals support high school students (up to age 21) with disabilities under the direction of a certificated special education teacher by modeling the necessary skills to perform assignments; following educational and specific behavioral plans; modeling appropriate behaviors and interactions with students and staff; and assisting students by providing for special health care needs. Assist with maintaining accurate records of student attendance, behavior, and grades. Assist with monitoring/charting behavioral and instructional progress for the students; assist with maintaining behavioral management system for students; assist with establishing a varied environment which accommodates the differing ways that students learn. Work collaboratively with others to provide support to all students. Employees in this classification may receive a variety of assignments including classroom support, one-on-one, etc.
Qualifications
Must hold a Paraprofessional License or obtain a Paraprofessional License (requirements include: passing the Parapro Test -OR- completion of 60 hours of college coursework needed to apply for licensure). CPI certification is beneficial. Excellent Communication Skills, experience working with diverse populations. An understanding and a commitment to the philosophy that all students can be successful. Ability to build rapport with students, staff, parents and community members.

Special Education Teacher
Duties
Full-time Permanent Special Education teacher. Must be organized and good with learning new computer based programs. Special Education Teacher will be required to develop lesson plans and must be able to individualize curriculum for high school students with disabilities. Maintain accurate records of student attendance, behavior, and grades. Monitor/chart instructional and behavioral progress for the students; establish/maintain educational programming for students; establish a varied environment which accommodates the differing ways that students learn; maintain records and reports regarding pupil progress in a timely manner. Excellent classroom management skills are vital. Work collaboratively with others, including paraprofessionals, to provide support to all students. Serve as a Case Manager for a proportional number of students by developing and managing IEPs.
Qualifications
Have appropriate Illinois teaching license or be eligible for license based on education and work experience in Special Education. Appropriate Illinois Professional Educator License: LBS1. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board of Education may prescribe. CPI certification is beneficial. Evidence of successful teaching experience, preferably at the Secondary Level. Excellent communication skills, experience working with diverse populations. Experience in curriculum development and instructional processes. An understanding and a commitment to the philosophy that all students can be successful. Ability to build rapport with students, staff, parents and community members.
