The Freshman Academy Capstone Project presentations and judging took place Thursday, May 11th in the MVTHS Auxiliary Gym. Science teacher Ryan Holden explained that freshmen teams were challenged, last semester, to create an island civilization in the most environmentally safe and sustainable ways possible. Research, planning, and preparations during the last five months led to today's presentations. For example, they had to learn and understand the impacts and sources of carbon on their island's life, he said.
The students presented their findings and their islands to each other and to faculty and administrators for judging.
