MVTHS students Logan Armstrong and Truman Carnine participated in Illinois Senator Terri Bryant"s Youth Advisory Council in Springfield on Thursday, March 5, 2026.
The students were invited into the Senate and House chambers where they learned about the daily operations of a Senator and about the restoration of the House of Representatives.
Terri Bryant spoke to the students throughout the day about her job as a Senator. Students also participated in a mock committee session discussing the bill they developed from ideas suggested at the fall session.
The students heard from two lobbyists who explained their roll in the legislative process. They also heard from several other senators as the the Senate was in session. The guest Senators included: Senator Aquino, Senator Curran, Senator McClure, Senator Morrison, Senator Tracy, Senator Arellano, and Senator Balkema
