CNA students graduate as nursing assistants.

It's a Pin, and a Pledge. But first it was a lot of hard work and study. The program involves a year of studies and exams, as well as 40 hours of supervised service in area facilities.

"Forty hours of care was put in by each student, with patients in our community. Providing real care with empathy and compassion," said Nurse and CNA instructor Tara Heinzman.

"Some of these kids will be going on to the nursing program at Rend Lake. Some are going to other nursing programs. Some of them are looking to occupational therapy, physical therapy, even dental hygiene. The CNA program has prepared them for their future. I'm super proud of all of them."

On May 12th, 26 Mt. Vernon Township High School CNA students crossed the stage and received their pins to recognize their graduation as Nursing Assistants.
