Mt. Vernon Chess Team Qualifies for State!

The Mt. Vernon Rams Chess Team traveled to Franklin High School in Franklin IL, January 29th, to participate in the  chess sectionals. Eight teams competed  at Sectionals. 

Competitive chess is very intense and the desire to do well for your team is incredible. "Our team stood up well to the challenge," said coach Bill England. 

"Our Chess Coaches, Mr. Bumpas and Mr. England, are very proud of the team and their individual efforts which contributed to our team earning the right to go to the IHSA State Championship Meet."

The State Finals are  February 11th and 12th in Peoria IL.
